Sunetra Pawar Shares Emotional Post After Taking Charge as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Vows to Uphold Ajit Pawar’s Legacy

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar expressed heartfelt emotions on social media after formally assuming her new office, underlining her commitment to fulfilling the unfinished aspirations of her late husband, former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

Mumbai, February 11, 2026: Sunetra Pawar, who recently took charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, took to social media platform X to share a deeply emotional message following her formal assumption of duties at the state secretariat in Mantralaya on Tuesday. In her post, she acknowledged the responsibilities she now shoulders with a strong sense of trust, duty and sacrifice, and paid tribute to her late husband Ajit Pawar, whose legacy she pledged to carry forward.

In the post, Pawar wrote that the lifelong dedication of Ajit Pawar toward the welfare and development of Maharashtra would serve as her guiding light. She emphasised that no one can replace him, but she would draw strength from his work style, decision‑making skills and close bond with the people to carry forward his vision. Her priorities, she stated, would include fulfilling his unfinished dreams and meeting the expectations of farmers, women, youth and common citizens.

Earlier in the day, Pawar observed a series of personal and symbolic gestures before assuming office, offering prayers at the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai and paying respects at the Chaitya Bhoomi memorial of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, demonstrating her belief in service and constitutional values. She then visited the office of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) before heading to Mantralaya to take up the responsibilities formally.

Her first cabinet meeting as Deputy CM, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, marked her initial step in governance since taking charge. Senior NCP leaders including Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal and Dhananjay Munde accompanied her during the occasion, highlighting broad political support.

Social media reactions have been mixed, with supporters applauding her resolve and some commentators reflecting on the emotional nature of her journey in stepping into a role again recently left vacant following Ajit Pawar’s tragic death earlier this year.
