NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule has targeted Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, over an allegedly suspicious land deal in Pune. The controversy involves a large land parcel reportedly valued at around ₹1,800 crore, which was sold for barely ₹300 crore — a massive discrepancy that has raised questions about the transaction’s legitimacy.

Speaking to the media, Sule questioned why a sub-registrar connected to the deal was suspended if everything about the transaction was as clean as Parth Pawar’s company claims. She argued that government action against officials indicates that something in the deal was irregular. “If the transaction was lawful, why were officials removed immediately? Why this panic?” she asked, demanding transparency and a detailed explanation.

The issue has escalated quickly because the government itself has called the matter “serious” and ordered an inquiry. According to preliminary reports, documents related to the land valuation and transaction process are now under scrutiny. The opposition believes this suspension of the sub-registrar is a sign that the administration is already aware of major procedural lapses.

Parth Pawar, through his legal team, has denied any wrongdoing and said he is prepared to cooperate with every aspect of the investigation. However, Ajit Pawar has avoided giving any direct statement so far, prompting further criticism from rival parties, who claim the silence raises more doubts.

Political observers believe the issue is gaining momentum at a sensitive time, with local body elections approaching. The controversy has become a talking point in Pune’s political circles, with opposition leaders arguing that the land deal reflects deeper problems in how powerful individuals influence key urban decisions.

Sule’s remarks have added pressure on the ruling Mahayuti government to respond more clearly. She said the public deserves to know whether rules were followed and whether the land was undervalued intentionally to benefit private entities. She also hinted that more information about the deal may emerge as documents are examined.

The investigation continues, and the case is expected to dominate political discussions in the coming days.
