A 15-acre government plot in Tathawade, Pune, belonging to the Animal Husbandry Department was illegally sold for ₹33 crore. FIR has been filed against 26 individuals, and a sub-registrar has been suspended.
Pune | November15 ,2025: A major land fraud case has emerged in Tathawade, Pimpri-Chinchwad, where a 15-acre government parcel belonging to the Maharashtra Animal Husbandry Department was allegedly sold for ₹33 crore in violation of regulations.
According to a complaint filed by the Animal Husbandry Department, the sale was completed through forged or outdated documents, including old 7/12 extracts, enabling the transaction without mandatory governmental approvals.
Following the complaint, the Inspector General Registration (IGR) has suspended Sub-Registrar Vidya Shankar Bade (Sangle), accusing her of approving the registration despite clear restrictions on the land’s transferability.
A police case has been registered against 26 individuals, including those who sold and purchased the land, to investigate potential fraud, undervaluation, and misuse of power.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has called the incident “serious misconduct” and stated that strict action will be taken. Meanwhile, investigators are reviewing all records of the transaction, including whether software overrides or illegal document manipulations were used during the registration.
The case adds to a series of land scam controversies in the Pune region, raising questions about the role of officials, registration procedures, and how non-transferable government properties are being misused. Authorities say they are committed to bringing all those responsible to justice.
