A tiger sighting in Solapur’s Barshi taluka has caused concern after a cow was attacked in Dhamangaon, prompting fear among farmers and heightened monitoring by the forest department.
Solapur | 15 December 2025:Panic has resurfaced in parts of Solapur district after a tiger was sighted again in the Barshi taluka, with an incident of a cow being attacked in Dhamangaon village. The development has raised serious concerns among farmers and livestock owners in the region.
According to local information, the incident occurred late Saturday night when the tiger reportedly entered an agricultural area near Dhamangaon and attacked a Jersey cow belonging to a farmer. Though no human injuries were reported, the attack has heightened fear across nearby villages, especially among those who depend on farming and animal husbandry.

Residents said signs of tiger movement, including paw marks, had been noticed in the area over the past few days. However, confirmation of an actual attack has intensified anxiety. Many farmers have begun avoiding nighttime field visits and are taking additional precautions to secure their cattle.
This is not the first instance of tiger movement in Solapur district. Over the past several months, sightings and livestock attacks have been reported from Barshi and adjoining talukas. Forest officials suspect that the same tiger may be moving across multiple rural belts in search of prey.
Following the incident, teams from the forest department reached the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection. Officials are currently tracking the animal’s movement and assessing the situation to prevent any human-wildlife conflict. Villagers have been advised to remain cautious, avoid venturing out alone at night, and keep livestock in secure enclosures.Forest authorities are also considering increased patrolling and the use of surveillance measures to monitor the tiger’s movement. Farmers have urged the administration to take swift preventive steps to ensure safety and reduce the risk of further incidents.
The situation continues to be closely watched as officials work to balance wildlife protection with rural safety concerns.
