UAE Drawn Into Escalating Middle East Conflict Amid Claims of Strike on Iran
Tensions in the Middle East intensified after reports claimed the United Arab Emirates carried out its first direct military strike against Iran, while Tehran also claimed a missile attack on a US naval base.

March 09 | Dubai: The Middle East conflict appears to be widening after reports suggested that the United Arab Emirates carried out a direct military strike against Iran for the first time. According to Israeli media reports, the UAE Air Force allegedly targeted an Iranian desalination plant, a key facility responsible for converting seawater into drinking water.
The reported strike was described as a strategic move aimed at disrupting Iran’s water supply infrastructure, which analysts consider a critical vulnerability. The alleged attack came amid rising hostilities in the region following earlier assaults on American and Israeli oil-related facilities. However, the UAE swiftly rejected the claims. In a late-night statement, the country’s foreign ministry said it had not conducted any attack on Iran and denied any involvement in the destruction of a water purification facility.

Meanwhile, the conflict continues to spill across the region. In Lebanon, health authorities said Israeli strikes over the past week killed 394 people, including 83 children and 42 women. The Israeli military confirmed that two of its soldiers were killed during clashes in southern Lebanon, marking the first Israeli combat fatalities linked to the wider conflict involving Iran-backed groups. Separately, Iran claimed it launched a missile strike on the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Manama, Bahrain. Iranian media reported that 21 American soldiers were killed and several others injured in the attack targeting the naval base in the Juffair area
