Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra | October 11, 2025 — In a significant show of political force and farmer advocacy, Uddhav Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), led a Hambarda Morcha in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, demanding a complete loan waiver for farmers affected by recent floods in the Marathwada region. The rally highlighted the growing dissatisfaction among farmers and political parties over the state government’s response to agricultural crises.
Thackeray criticized the Devendra Fadnavis-led government for announcing what he termed as “the biggest bluff in history” in terms of relief measures. According to Thackeray, the government’s announced package was insufficient to meet the needs of farmers who had suffered substantial losses due to floods. He emphasized that the financial support provided so far was inadequate and urged immediate and comprehensive action to prevent further distress in the agricultural community.
The Hambarda Morcha began at Kranti Chowk and attracted thousands of supporters, including farmers, local party leaders, and activists. Prominent Shiv Sena leaders, such as Aditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut, were also present and addressed the crowd, reaffirming the party’s commitment to standing with the farming community. The rally featured slogans demanding justice for farmers, immediate loan waivers, and accountability from the government for implementing effective relief measures.
During his address, Thackeray stressed that Shiv Sena had always prioritized the welfare of farmers and highlighted the critical role of political advocacy in securing timely assistance. He called upon the state government to recognize the hardships faced by farmers and implement a full loan waiver program that would alleviate financial burdens and restore confidence in agricultural livelihoods.
The demonstration has added momentum to the ongoing political debate in Maharashtra about the adequacy of government interventions for flood-affected farmers. Analysts note that the Hambarda Morcha not only underscores the farmers’ grievances but also positions Shiv Sena (UBT) as a party committed to protecting agricultural interests, ahead of upcoming local and civic elections.
Thackeray’s rally concluded peacefully, with participants pledging to continue advocacy efforts until the government ensures comprehensive relief measures. The event highlighted the political significance of addressing farmer distress and the continuing dialogue between opposition parties and the state administration regarding effective support for Maharashtra’s farming population.
