Uddhav Thackeray to be Felicitated at Farewell Ceremony in Legislative Council

A farewell ceremony will be held for Uddhav Thackeray and eight other retiring members of the Maharashtra Legislative Council as his tenure comes to an end.

Mumbai | March 16, 2026: Uddhav Thackeray, chief of the Shiv Sena (UBT faction), will be accorded a formal farewell on Monday as his tenure as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council comes to a close.

The ceremony will be held in the (Legislative Council) chamber, where a total of nine retiring members will be honoured for their service. Among them, Thackeray remains the most prominent figure, having served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra during his term as a council member.

His tenure in the Upper House has been marked by significant political developments, including his leadership during a crucial phase in the state’s political landscape. leaders and colleagues are expected to acknowledge his contributions during the farewell event.

Leaders from the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction have expressed their desire for Thackeray to continue his parliamentary journey and return to the Legislative Council. However, Thackeray has indicated that he currently has limited interest in continuing legislative responsibilities.
