Mumbai – Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray has appealed to voters across Maharashtra to verify their names and personal details in the official voter list ahead of the upcoming elections. He said that thousands of voters have found errors or missing names in recent months, raising questions about the accuracy of the electoral roll.

Thackeray stated that many citizens have discovered incorrect entries, such as changes in gender, age, or even religion, without their knowledge. He claimed that several residential addresses now show 40 to 50 names registered, which he described as a serious irregularity. He blamed the Election Commission for negligence and demanded that all citizens take responsibility for checking their entries as soon as possible.

His party has launched a statewide voter verification drive to help citizens confirm their information. Dedicated help desks and local party offices have been instructed to assist people in finding their names and filing corrections. “Do not wait for election day to find out that your name is missing. Verify it now,” Thackeray urged.

He also warned that if these irregularities continue, opposition parties may be forced to reconsider their participation in the upcoming elections. Thackeray said the issue goes beyond party politics and directly affects democracy. “If your name is missing, your vote is gone, and your voice is silenced,” he said.

The campaign has gained traction across Mumbai, Thane, and other districts, with volunteers visiting households to help residents confirm their names. Thackeray said the effort is aimed at preventing voter fraud and ensuring transparency in the electoral process.

This call to action has come at a time when multiple political groups have raised concerns about duplicate entries and deliberate manipulation of voter lists in Maharashtra. As the election season approaches, the accuracy of the rolls and voter participation are expected to be key issues shaping the political atmosphere in the state.
