The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is launching a ‘homecoming’ drive under Invest UP to encourage professionals abroad to return, with job facilitation and travel-fare support part of a bigger plan to boost services and investment.

Lucknow|December 5, 2025: The UP government has announced a new “homecoming” scheme aimed at state-born professionals working abroad inviting them to return to Uttar Pradesh with promises of employment, support and subsidised travel. Under this initiative, global professionals originally from UP can get their air-travel expenses covered, and receive assistance finding work within the state if they choose to return.

The scheme is being rolled out under the aegis of Invest UP, the official investment-promotion and facilitation agency of the state, which has recently repositioned itself to make Uttar Pradesh more investor-friendly and attract talent and capital. According to Invest UP’s broader mandate, the agency aims to simplify business entry, investment, and infrastructure development through streamlined policies and support mechanisms.

As part of the government’s efforts to galvanize the services sector and plug gaps in skilled manpower, officials said a special international conference will be held in Lucknow to bring returning professionals, investors and business leaders together. This is meant to create a conducive ecosystem for employment and enterprise  and to encourage those returning to invest or start ventures under UP’s business-friendly policies.

The government hopes that by offering travel support and job facilitation, many professionals working overseas will take up the offer  giving a boost to UP’s workforce and contributing to its ambition of becoming a major economic hub. In recent months, Invest UP has also opened satellite offices outside the state to help investors and businesses from other cities launch ventures in Uttar Pradesh, easing the process of expansion and investment.

With over 20 sectoral policies already in place to support industry, services, manufacturing and exports, the homecoming scheme is seen as a strategic move. It aims to leverage the diaspora’s skills and global exposure in building a modern, service-oriented economy while also stimulating local investment and infrastructural growth.
