The potential tie-up is being seen as a strategic move to counter the growing influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation, turning the contest into a high-stakes political battle.

Hitendra Thakur and the BVA have traditionally enjoyed a strong hold over Vasai–Virar politics, built on a solid grassroots network and deep local connect. However, in recent years, the BJP has made steady inroads into the region, challenging the dominance of regional forces. The possible alliance with MNS is therefore being viewed as an effort to consolidate regional and Marathi-centric votes to prevent further erosion of influence.
