Residents of Vishal Nagar (Pimple Nilakh area) prepare a non-political “Residents’ Election Manifesto” outlining civic demands for the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections.

Pune | November18,2025: Residents of the Vishal Nagar locality in Pimple Nilakh (under PCMC) have taken a proactive step ahead of the upcoming municipal elections by drafting a “Residents’ Election Manifesto”. More than 50 housing societies in the area collaborated in a meeting recently, where they resolved to consolidate their civic demands on issues such as roads, traffic management, water supply, waste disposal, cleanliness, and public safety — and present the document to all candidates contesting in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation elections.

The manifesto initiative is designed as a non-political, citizen-driven effort which emphasises accountability, quality of civic services and clear expectations from elected representatives. The residents stressed that the platform will not endorse or oppose any political party, and their role during the election would be limited to exercising their vote. They also underlined that matters beyond the municipal corporation’s scope will be taken up with the respective MLA or MP, while the focus of the manifesto remains on municipal responsibilities.

In the meeting, which included support from the local police (Sangvi Police Station) and the women’s marshal squad, officials shared details of enhanced safety measures such as a dedicated 24×7 patrol vehicle under “112” and the Damini response-unit for the area. The residents’ collective aim is to ensure that corporators not only promise but deliver quality civic works with transparency and proper utilisation of public funds. They expressed confidence that the manifesto will create a focal point for civic-level accountability.

This move by Vishal Nagar may set a precedent for other localities in the PCMC region to adopt similar “citizen manifestos” ahead of elections — shifting the focus from candidate appeals to concrete, measurable civic demands. If widely adopted, such initiatives could raise standards of municipal governance and electoral responsiveness.
