Pune | December 10, 2025:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a statewide cold‑wave alert, pointing to a pronounced chill gripping western Maharashtra. According to the forecast from Pune observatory, the next few days will bring a steady downward slide in temperatures, with night‑time lows possibly dipping to single digits.

Residents across districts including Kolhapur, Pune, and surrounding regions are already experiencing the bite of stark morning chills. With the mercury falling quickly, authorities have urged people especially children, the elderly and those with existing health conditions to take extra precautions and limit outdoor exposure during the coldest hours.Meteorologists say the drop in temperature is linked to a cold‑air influx from northern India combined with clear skies and dry winds conditions that intensify night‑time cooling. Several districts across North Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada are also bracing for similar cold‑wave conditions.

This cold spell comes at a time when daily routines are still adapting post-monsoon; as a result, the state government and disaster‑management agencies have issued advisories to ensure people stay warm and safe.
Citizens are being asked to use warm clothing, avoid unnecessary travel during early morning or late-night hours, and help vulnerable neighbours such as the elderly and infants. As winter sets in, the current cold wave could mark the sharpest chill Maharashtra has experienced in recent years a reminder of looming seasonal risks and the need for awareness.
