Western Railway Rolls Out RailOne App Refunds for Stuck Passenger Funds
Rail One App
Western Railway initiates seamless refunds for payments trapped in RailOne app due to failed bookings, easing commuter woes across Mumbai division.

Mumbai, Maharashtra : March 20, 2026 Western Railway has launched a dedicated drive to refund stuck funds from failed transactions on the RailOne app, addressing long-standing complaints from passengers facing payment glitches during ticket bookings. The initiative targets issues like unbooked tickets after deductions, R-Wallet glitches, and absent withdrawal options, which have plagued users attempting Tatkal or unreserved bookings. Commuters on Mumbai Central, Pune, and Vadodara divisions stand to benefit most, with thousands potentially recovering dues from recent months.
Passengers can now claim refunds effortlessly via the app’s updated “My Transactions” section or dedicated helpline, with processing promised within 3-5 days faster than prior 7-10 day delays. This follows user backlash on platforms like Reddit, where failed UPI payments yielded no support despite merchant acknowledgments.A Western Railway spokesperson highlighted the app’s popularity for 3% discounts on unreserved tickets via digital payments, but acknowledged teething problems with high-volume Tatkal rushes. The refund portal integrates UPI transaction IDs for verification, ensuring transparency and swift crediting to original accounts.

This move aligns with Indian Railways’ push for digital ticketing via RailOne, which offers confirmed seats, multilingual complaints, and cashback perks. Experts praise it as a step toward user trust amid competition from IRCTC.While exact figures remain undisclosed, sources estimate ₹50-100 crore in pending claims. RailOne users are urged to check transactions promptly to avoid forfeiture. The drive runs through April, with awareness campaigns at major stations like Mumbai CST and Pune. It reinforces Railways’ commitment to frictionless travel in India’s busiest corridor.
