Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis says Narendra Modi will continue as Prime Minister in 2029, while showcasing major achievements of the state government including record solar pump installation and key welfare schemes.

Pune, December 05, 2025 – The Mahayuti government recently completed one year in Maharashtra, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis marked the occasion by presenting an upbeat review of the administration’s work. Speaking in Pune, he said the past year had placed the state firmly on a path of progress, backed by major welfare schemes and record-breaking achievements in energy and agriculture. Fadnavis described the government’s performance as impactful, claiming it delivered visible improvements in the lives of citizens.

Among the state’s flagship initiatives, the Ladki Bahin scheme stood out for its contribution to women’s financial empowerment. Fadnavis noted that the programme has given direct economic support to lakhs of women across urban and rural areas. On the agricultural front, he highlighted the free electricity scheme for farmers, saying it has brought relief to cultivators struggling with rising input costs. According to him, these initiatives show the administration’s commitment to building a welfare-oriented governance model.

The biggest milestone, however, came from Maharashtra’s rapid expansion of solar-powered agricultural pumps. The state set a Guinness World Record by installing 45,911 solar pumps in a single month. Fadnavis said this achievement is not merely symbolic but a decisive shift toward clean energy and modernised farming. He added that of the nine lakh solar pumps installed across India, nearly seven lakh have been installed in Maharashtra alone — a statistic he described as proof of the state’s leadership in renewable energy adoption. For farmers, he said, this transition means lower electricity dependency, greater reliability and long-term economic savings.

While outlining the administration’s accomplishments, Fadnavis also responded to political remarks made by Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan regarding the future of national leadership. Fadnavis said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity and efficiency remain unmatched, and he firmly believes Modi will continue to lead India even after 2029. He described the Prime Minister as a leader with extraordinary public trust, adding that the country’s development over the past decade supports that confidence.

The comment has added fuel to ongoing political discussions about the next national election cycle. Fadnavis insisted that Modi’s leadership style, governance record and global standing give him a clear edge. In his view, the opposition’s criticism stems from frustration rather than a realistic assessment of political dynamics. According to him, the public has repeatedly shown strong support for Modi, and that sentiment is unlikely to change in the near future.

Overall, the one-year performance review painted an optimistic picture of Maharashtra’s direction under the Mahayuti coalition. With large-scale welfare schemes, a historic renewable-energy accomplishment and political messaging centred around stability and continuity, the government is positioning itself as both development-driven and electorally confident. As preparations quietly begin for the next cycle of state and national elections, the administration appears focused on showcasing results that resonate with citizens across sectors.
