Pune| October 18,2025: Even though the southwest monsoon has officially withdrawn from Pune, light showers may continue till October 19, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Meteorologist S. D. Sanap stated that the city will soon experience clear skies, sunny days, and cool nights, creating ideal weather conditions for the upcoming Diwali celebrations.

Pune recorded 849.2 mm of rainfall this monsoon season, which is 243.6 mm above its normal average. This marks one of the wettest years for the city in recent times. Despite the lingering post-monsoon showers, the festive week ahead is expected to remain largely dry, offering a comfortable balance of warm afternoons and pleasant evenings.

The IMD also reported that a cyclonic circulation over the southwest Arabian Sea could evolve into a low-pressure area near the Karnataka–Kerala coast around October 18. This system is likely to trigger thunderstorms and lightning across parts of central Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa between October 18 and 20.

However, Pune is expected to remain mostly unaffected by these weather activities. The city will continue to enjoy bright skies, mild breezes, and festive-friendly weather as Diwali approaches. Citizens can look forward to celebrating the festival of lights without major weather disruptions.
