A female commuter claims she was harassed by security staff at a Pune Metro station. Repeated luggage checks and gender-insensitive behaviour delayed her — she nearly missed her Vande Bharat Express train.

Pune | December 4, 2025: A woman commuter has filed a formal complaint alleging harassment and improper behaviour by security personnel at a metro station in Pune. She says the ordeal began when she was accused of carrying a prohibited item in her suitcase when boarding. Multiple security checks — including by male guards — failed to find anything suspicious, yet she says she was repeatedly stopped and questioned in a humiliating manner. The delays caused by these repeated inspections almost made her miss her scheduled Vande Bharat Express to Mumbai.

According to her complaint, the luggage inspection was handled insensitively: personal belongings, including modest items, were exposed during the checks, which she described as gender-insensitive and demeaning. She claims the security guard acted on unsubstantiated suspicion and that the whole experience left her distressed. In her complaint to metro officials, she has demanded an impartial investigation, discipline for those responsible, and assurance that security checks will follow respectful, gender-sensitive protocols going forward.

The case has once again brought focus to safety and dignity of women commuters. Transport and metro authorities have been urged by commuters and public-interest groups to ensure that security procedures do not violate privacy or cause unnecessary distress. Many believe the incident underlines the need for better training for security staff and more transparent, respectful conduct during checks — especially for female passengers.
