Thergaon’s Dange Chowk: Extension of Grade Separator Approved to Ease Traffic Congestion
The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved the extension of the grade separator at Dange Chowk in Thergaon to alleviate severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours.
Pune, October 07, 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved the extension of the grade separator at Dange Chowk in Thergaon to alleviate severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. This decision follows a directive from Shrirang Barne, the Shiv Sena Member of Parliament for Maval, who emphasized the need to extend the grade separator to ensure smoother traffic flow towards Thergaon Gaothan. The extension aims to address the growing traffic bottlenecks in the area.
Dange Chowk serves as a critical junction connecting commuters from Chinchwad to Hinjawadi and Pune. Despite the existing grade separator, traffic congestion remains a significant issue, particularly during morning and evening peak hours. The extended grade separator is expected to facilitate uninterrupted movement for vehicles traveling towards Bhumkar Chowk in Wakad and Hinjawadi, thereby reducing delays and improving overall traffic management.
The PCMC has initiated the planning and design phase for the extension, with consultations involving key officials, including PCMC Chief Engineer Pramod Ombhase, Executive Engineer Vijay Bhojne, and Urban Transport Division Executive Engineer Sunil Pawar. The project is part of a broader strategy to enhance infrastructure and address traffic challenges in the rapidly developing Thergaon area.
The extension of the grade separator at Dange Chowk is anticipated to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance the commuting experience for residents and travelers in the region.
