Under Chandrakant Patil’s initiative, the Mhatoba Devasthan auditorium in Kothrud has been renovated into a modern 6,000 sq. ft. hall with affordable access for local residents.
Pune, October 30, 2025 –The auditorium at Mhatoba Devasthan in Kothrud has undergone a complete transformation under the initiative of Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. The newly renovated hall has been converted into a modern and well-equipped facility designed to serve the local community. The upgraded space now includes a dining hall that can accommodate up to 500 people, a dedicated room for the bride and groom, and a spacious lobby to host large gatherings and events comfortably.
Chandrakant Patil took this initiative to ensure that residents of Kothrud, especially those from economically weaker sections, have access to an affordable and convenient venue for social and cultural functions. He requested the temple trust managing Mhatoba Devasthan to make the facility available to the public at minimal rates. The trust has accepted this proposal, which is expected to benefit several local families who often face difficulties finding reasonably priced venues in the city.
According to sources, the renovation of the auditorium spans nearly 6,000 square feet, with improved interiors, better seating arrangements, and modern amenities to suit a wide range of community functions, from weddings and cultural programs to local meetings. The project reflects Patil’s consistent focus on community-oriented development in Kothrud, a constituency he has actively represented and developed over the years.
The inauguration ceremony of the new auditorium is scheduled for November 3, where Chandrakant Patil and several other dignitaries, including a Union Minister, will be present. Local citizens and devotees of Mhatoba Devasthan are eagerly awaiting the opening of the new facility, which they believe will add value to the temple complex and the surrounding neighborhood.
Residents have appreciated Patil’s efforts in enhancing community infrastructure and ensuring that development projects directly benefit common people. Many have described this initiative as an example of practical governance that focuses on local needs rather than large-scale projects with limited public access.
The renovated auditorium is expected to become a hub for cultural and religious activities in Kothrud, offering an accessible and modern space for events that bring the community together. The project also highlights how collaboration between public representatives and religious trusts can result in meaningful improvements that serve the broader public interest.
