Uddhav Thackeray claims there’s a plot to delete his and his family’s names from the voter list using fake applications and unauthorized mobile numbers. He demands an inquiry and warns of a threat to democracy.
Mumbai, November 1, 2025 – Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has alleged a serious attempt to remove his and his family members’ names from the voter list. Speaking at an opposition rally in Mumbai, Thackeray claimed that fake applications were submitted using their details, linking them to false mobile numbers and unauthorized OTPs.
Thackeray said he discovered that his own name, along with those of four family members, had been targeted in what he called a “planned conspiracy.” He questioned how such fraudulent requests were accepted by the authorities and demanded a detailed investigation.
“This is not just about my family. If this can happen to us, imagine the situation of ordinary citizens. Democracy is in danger if voter lists can be tampered with so easily,” Thackeray said.
He warned that conducting elections based on inaccurate or manipulated voter lists would be unfair and could undermine public trust in the electoral process. Opposition leaders have also raised similar concerns, alleging large-scale errors, duplicate entries, and missing names in the state’s voter rolls.
Thackeray urged the Election Commission to act immediately, verify all records, and ensure that the electoral rolls remain transparent and credible ahead of upcoming polls.
