IFSC Asian Kids Climbing Championship 2025 Kicks Off in Pimpri-Chinchwad with Grand Ceremony
Over 200 athletes from 13 countries compete in the IFSC Asian Kids Climbing Championship 2025, hosted in Pimpri-Chinchwad from Nov 1 to 4.
Pune, November 03, 2025: The much-anticipated IFSC Asian Kids Climbing Championship 2025 began in Pimpri-Chinchwad with a vibrant opening ceremony filled with energy, colour, and cultural performances. The four-day international event, being held from November 1 to 4, marks a historic milestone for Maharashtra as it hosts its first-ever Asian-level kids’ climbing championship at the state-of-the-art Sport Climbing Complex in Yoga Park, Pimple Saudagar.
The championship features more than 200 young athletes representing 13 countries, all competing across three climbing disciplines — Speed, Lead, and Bouldering — in two age categories: Under-13 and Under-15, for both boys and girls. The event has transformed Pimpri-Chinchwad into a vibrant hub of international sporting spirit, highlighting India’s growing stature in the field of competitive climbing.
Local authorities and sport officials inaugurated the event in the presence of national and international representatives from the climbing community. The championship is expected to give India’s young climbers an invaluable opportunity to experience world-class competition standards while inspiring new generations to take up the sport.
The venue, developed as part of the Smart City initiative, is one of India’s most advanced climbing facilities. The complex is fully equipped with Olympic-standard climbing walls and safety systems, making it capable of hosting international events. Each discipline in the championship tests a different skill set — Speed climbing focuses on explosive pace and precision, Lead climbing challenges endurance and route-planning, while Bouldering demands a combination of strength, agility, and problem-solving skills. Officials overseeing the event emphasized the importance of safety and fairness.
