Punjab | November 05, 2025:Sikandar Shaikh, a noted wrestler and winner of the Maharashtra Kesari title, has been granted bail by a court in Punjab in connection with an illegal arms trafficking case.
Shaikh was arrested by Punjab police under allegations that linked him to a weapons supply network tied to the Papla Gujjar gang.According to the reports, during the raid, authorities seized five pistols, cash around ₹1.99 lakh, and additional evidence including vehicles.
In granting him bail, the court took into account his status as an established wrestler without any previous criminal record. However, the other accused in the case have not been granted the same relief; bail was denied to three others linked to the same incident.
The case stirred concern in the wrestling community, given Shaikh’s status as a prominent athlete. His family expressed relief at the bail order, while critics question how a high-profile sports figure became embroiled in the case.As the legal proceedings continue, attention will be on whether he will be able to resume his sporting career and how the trial proceeds under the arms-smuggling charges.
