Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil releases an alleged audio clip claiming Dhananjay Munde planned to kill him using a vehicle. Munde dismisses the charge and seeks a CBI probe.

AURANGABAD, 07 November 2025 – Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil sparked a political storm after he publicly played what he called an incriminating audio clip and accused Dhananjay Munde of plotting to kill him. Speaking before reporters, Jarange Patil said the recording involved two men who were recently arrested and who allegedly claimed that a vehicle had been arranged to run him over. He repeated several times that he was placing the clip before the people because he wanted “the truth out” and urged the authorities to investigate without delay.

In the audio clip, one person can be heard asking about Munde’s arrival, while another claims a car had been arranged and later replaced. Jarange Patil said these lines are not casual remarks but a direct hint at a murder plan. He challenged Munde to undergo narco-analysis, brain-mapping and allow forensic examination of his vehicle, insisting he himself is ready to face the same tests. He said he has no personal enmity with Munde and that his fight is only for the rights of the Maratha community.

Dhananjay Munde has rejected the accusations outright, calling them fabricated and politically motivated. He said the case should be probed by the CBI to ensure there is no manipulation and urged Jarange Patil to stop making public allegations without verified evidence. According to Munde, the clip is being misinterpreted and weaponised to inflame emotions around the ongoing reservation agitation.

The dispute has intensified tension already surrounding the Maratha quota issue. Jarange Patil has been the face of the movement for months, leading marches, hunger strikes and district-level mobilisations. He warned that attempts to portray him as a threat or destabilise the movement will not work. He appealed to the community to stay peaceful and patient, saying the coming days will be the toughest phase of the struggle.

The incident has put pressure on the state administration as well. Political observers say the clash between the two leaders has pushed the agitation into a new and unpredictable zone, with both sides seeking to frame the narrative. Law-enforcement agencies are expected to examine the clip, statements from the arrested men and other supporting material. If the claims are proved, the issue could have serious legal and political consequences. If not, it may deepen the divide between Maratha and OBC groups, a tension already simmering in state politics.

For now, Jarange Patil maintains he has placed everything before the public and that he wants a transparent inquiry. Munde has said he is ready for a full investigation but insists the accusations are a tactic to gain sympathy during a sensitive political moment. The controversy is likely to dominate Maharashtra’s political climate until authorities clarify the authenticity and context of the recording.
