Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Trace 30 Bangladeshi Nationals; 26 Deported

Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have traced 30 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally in the city, with 26 deported and proceedings underway against four.

Pimpri-Chinchwad, September 21, 2026: The Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATB) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police has traced 30 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally within the commissionerate limits since May, according to police. Of them, 26 have been deported to Bangladesh, while proceedings against the remaining four are underway.

The police operation has involved verification of identities, documents and residential details of foreign nationals suspected of staying in the city without valid authorisation.

In the latest action, ATB personnel detained a 29-year-old woman from a lodge in the Bhosari area. Police said she initially claimed to be from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, but verification of her Aadhaar card allegedly revealed that the document was fake.

During questioning, police said the woman disclosed that she was originally from Khulna in Bangladesh and had entered India illegally around two years ago. She was reportedly staying with a man from Indore and remained in contact with family members in Bangladesh through social media.

The Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) has initiated the process for her deportation, according to police.

Earlier, another Bangladeshi woman was detained in the Dehu Road area following information about her alleged unauthorised stay. Police said her documents were also found to be fake and that further verification established her Bangladeshi identity. Deportation proceedings were subsequently initiated.

Police officials said the operation focuses on identifying foreign nationals who may be staying without valid documentation, verifying their actual identities and completing the required legal and administrative procedures.

The action follows the Union Home Ministry’s policy regarding foreign nationals found to be staying illegally in India. Police have said that, in such cases, the deportation process can be pursued after the required verification rather than allowing lengthy criminal proceedings to delay removal.

Authorities have also highlighted the difficulty of verifying identities when individuals allegedly use fake documents or provide incorrect personal information. Police are therefore conducting checks at locations including lodges and rented accommodation.

Police have appealed to landlords and accommodation providers to properly verify the identity and documents of tenants and guests and to inform authorities if they encounter suspicious circumstances.
