Pune | 17 February 2026:The Government of Maharashtra has launched the online admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the academic year 2026‑27. This allows parents to apply for 25% reserved seats in private unaided schools for eligible children, providing a significant opportunity for quality education. Applications opened on 17 February 2026, with the last date for submission set for 10 March 2026.

This year, key changes include the 1‑km rule, giving priority to schools within 1 km of the applicant’s residence, and mandatory document upload at the time of application.

Required documents include birth certificate, residence proof (Aadhaar card, electricity bill, or passport), income certificate (for families earning less than ₹1 lakh), and caste certificate (if applicable). Parents should carefully select their home location on Google Maps to avoid issues in school selection.

Applications are to be submitted via the official portal: student.maharashtra.gov.in.
