In a step towards improving coordination and efficiency in passport services, the Regional Passport Office Pune organized a special training session for police officers at the Superintendent of Police Office, Pune Rural
April 18, 2026 | Pune: The session was inaugurated by Sandeep Singh Gill, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of inter-departmental collaboration in delivering efficient public services. The training focused on sensitizing police personnel about updated passport verification procedures, recent system upgrades, and best practices to ensure timely and accurate reports.

Addressing the officers, Dr. Vinod Gaikwad emphasized the role of police verification as a key pillar in the passport issuance process. He underlined that accurate and prompt verification not only ensures citizen convenience but also plays a vital role in maintaining national security. He also spoke about the Ministry of External Affairs’ efforts to modernize passport services through transparent and technology-driven systems.
During the programme, Shruti Pandey provided a detailed presentation on the upgraded Passport Seva Programme (PSP) Version 2.0. She explained how the new system incorporates enhanced digital features, streamlined workflows, and better integration with police systems, leading to faster processing, improved data accuracy, and efficient tracking of verification timelines.

The training also included an interactive question-and-answer session, where police officers raised queries related to documentation, procedural challenges, and common discrepancies faced during verification. Officials from the passport office addressed these concerns, helping clarify operational aspects and improve on-ground execution.
The programme reflects a shared commitment between the Regional Passport Office, Pune and the Superintendent of Police Office, Pune Rural to strengthen coordination, build capacity, and enhance overall public service delivery. Officials believe that such collaborative efforts will significantly improve the efficiency of passport verification and ensure a smoother experience for citizens.
