Purandar Airport Land Compensation Finalised, Payout to Farmers Begins from May 4

Over 1,980 farmers have consented to land acquisition for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje International Airport, with compensation distribution set to begin from May 4 in a phased manner.
Pune | 29 April 2026:The long-pending land compensation for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje International Airport has been finalised, with authorities set to begin disbursing payments to affected farmers from May 4.

The project, planned in Purandar taluka, has seen participation from more than 1,980 farmers who have collectively consented to acquire nearly 3,000 acres of land. Officials confirmed that the land acquisition process has been completed, and the next phase will involve formal land transfer through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

As per discussions among farmers, the compensation is expected to exceed ₹1.5 crore per acre, with some estimates suggesting payouts of at least ₹1.51 crore per acre. In addition to monetary compensation, eligible landowners will also receive developed plots, along with provisions that may extend benefits up to four times the base value.To support the project financially, around ₹6,000 crore will be raised through loans, backed by a state government guarantee. Authorities have indicated that compensation distribution will begin in the first week of May and is expected to be completed by early June.

The land acquisition covers seven villages, including Ekhatpur, Kumbharvalan, Khanwadi, Munjwadi, Udachiwadi, Pargaon, and Vanpuri. Once the payout process is completed, work on the airport project is expected to move forward at a faster pace.
