Six-Member Team Formed to Probe Nasrapur Child Murder; CM Vows Fast-Track Trial and Maximum Punishment

A six-officer team, including two women, will investigate the Nasrapur child rape-murder. The Chief Minister promised a fast-track trial, special prosecutor, and maximum punishment amid statewide outrage and commission scrutiny.

Pune | 04 May 2026: A six-member special investigation team has been constituted to probe the rape and murder of a four-year-old girl in Nasrapur, an incident that has triggered widespread public anger across Maharashtra.

Superintendent of Police Sandeepsingh Gill announced on Sunday that the team includes two women officers and will function under close supervisory guidance to ensure a thorough, time-bound investigation. Police said forensic, digital, and circumstantial evidence is being compiled on priority as statements of witnesses are recorded.

He added that the case would be pursued on a fast-track basis to prevent delays and to deliver timely justice to the victim’s family.

The Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken serious cognisance of the case. Its chairperson indicated that recommendations would be sent to the government for appointing a special public prosecutor and for conducting the trial in a fast-track court to ensure swift judicial proceedings.The National Commission for Women has also condemned the incident, terming it a grave violation of child rights, and called for stringent legal action.

Through local representatives, the minister conveyed the government’s support to the family and assured villagers that the case would be expedited in court.

Reports of shutdowns were observed in Bhor, Nasrapur, Velhe, and Panshet as residents expressed grief and outrage over the crime.Authorities have urged the public to maintain calm while the investigation proceeds, reiterating that due process will be followed to secure justice.
