Pune | 08 May 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has officially launched a comprehensive beautification and restoration project for the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Memorial in the city’s Deccan Gymkhana area. This memorial, which holds deep historical and cultural significance for the residents of Pune, is set to receive a modern facelift while maintaining its heritage value.

The renovation plan includes several key upgrades:

• Landscaping: The surrounding garden area will be redesigned with new plantations and improved pathways for visitors.
• Illumination: High-quality decorative lighting will be installed to enhance the memorial’s aesthetic appeal during the evening hours.
• Structural Preservation: Necessary repairs to the memorial structure and the statue base will be undertaken to ensure long-term stability.
• Amenities: Upgraded seating arrangements and information plaques detailing the history of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj will be added to improve the visitor experience.

Civic officials stated that the project aims to transform the memorial into a more prominent landmark and a serene space for citizens.
