Sheetal Teli-Ugale Appointed Pune Divisional Commissioner

Senior IAS officer takes charge after administrative reshuffle, bringing experience in sports administration and urban development.

Senior IAS officer Sheetal Teli-Ugale has been appointed as the new Pune Divisional Commissioner in the Maharashtra government’s latest administrative reshuffle.

A 2009-batch IAS officer, Teli-Ugale was serving as Commissioner of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra, since May 2025. During her tenure, she focused on strengthening coordination between district sports offices, improving monitoring of sports infrastructure, and streamlining administrative functioning within the department.
Sources said she played an active role in improving utilisation of facilities at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi and regularly reviewed athlete support and youth engagement programmes. She also participated in several athlete felicitation and state sports promotion initiatives.

Before heading the Sports and Youth Services Department, Teli-Ugale served as Metropolitan Commissioner at Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA), where she was associated with urban planning and regional infrastructure projects during a key phase of expansion in the Nagpur region.

In earlier assignments, she handled district-level administrative responsibilities and was known for her work in public grievance redressal, welfare scheme implementation, and revenue administration. Officials describe her functioning style as disciplined, execution-focused, and coordination-driven.

As Pune Divisional Commissioner, Teli-Ugale will oversee administration across Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, and Kolhapur districts at a time when the region is witnessing rapid urban and infrastructure growth.
She takes over the position following the recent reshuffle, while senior IAS officer Deepak Singla has been appointed as Commissioner of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra.
