Pune | May 15, 2026– Senior IPS officer Tejaswi Satpute has been appointed as the new Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Pune City, in the Maharashtra government’s latest administrative reshuffle. She replaces senior IPS officer Pankaj Deshmukh, who had taken charge as Additional CP (Crime) in Pune Police last year.

A 2012-batch IPS officer, Satpute is known for her investigation-driven policing style and handling of several sensitive cases during her career. She is currently heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the high-profile Ashok Kharat case.
Under her leadership, the SIT coordinated investigations related to allegations of sexual exploitation, cheating, extortion, and circulation of objectionable content. The probe involved multiple police units, examination of several witnesses, and cyber action to remove thousands of objectionable online links and social media accounts linked to the case.
She is known for maintaining strong coordination between cyber teams, district police units, and investigators while ensuring timely progress in the probe and filing of chargesheets.
Apart from the Kharat investigation, Satpute has handled key law and order and district policing assignments, where she earned recognition for action against organised crime, preventive policing drives, and strengthening police-public coordination. During her current assignment as Commandant, SRPF Group 1, Pune, she has also undertaken several initiatives related to infrastructure improvement and welfare measures within the force.
Her appointment comes at a crucial time as Pune Police continues to focus on cybercrime, organised crime, narcotics enforcement, and intelligence-based policing in one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban centres.
Sources confirmed, It is believed that Satpute’s experience in handling complex investigations and field administration will strengthen Pune Police’s crime investigation framework in the coming months.
