Punit Balan Unanimously Appointed Acting President of Amateur Kabaddi Foundation of Maharashtra

Prominent entrepreneur and sports administrator Punit Balan has been unanimously selected as the Acting President of the Amateur Kabaddi Foundation of Maharashtra, aiming to drive administrative transparency and grassroots player development.

June 2, 2026 | Pune: In a significant development for regional sports, prominent young entrepreneur and Chairman of the Punit Balan Group, Punit Balan, has been appointed as the Acting President of the Amateur Kabaddi Foundation of Maharashtra. The decision was ratified through a unanimous resolution passed during a special executive body session held at Alandi in the Pune district.

The annual general assembly convened under the chairpersonship of Sapna Waghmode and in the presence of Bharti Jagtap. It drew a massive gathering of organizational office-bearers and notable stakeholders from across the sports ecosystem. The primary agenda centered around constructing a dynamic, highly professional, and structurally transparent roadmap to govern the future operations of the federation.

Dnyanesh Kale representing Satara officially moved the resolution for Balan’s appointment, which was subsequently seconded by Gokul Tandale from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Recognizing Balan’s extensive experience in sports management and his continuous efforts to fund regional youth leagues, the executive body expressed collective confidence that his leadership would modernize the sports body through technological integration and superior tournament execution. Under his administration, the foundation also resolved to scale up its operational role in spearheading national and state-level kabaddi tournaments.

“I sincerely thank all office-bearers and members of the Amateur Kabaddi Foundation of Maharashtra for placing their trust in me,” Balan stated following his appointment. “Kabaddi is a sport deeply rooted in our culture, and strengthening it at the state and national levels is our collective responsibility. I am committed to promoting transparency, professional planning, and creating new opportunities for players. We will make dedicated efforts to ensure that talented athletes at the grassroots level receive the platform they deserve.”
