Maharashtra SET 2026 Postponed to October 25; SPPU Announces Revised Exam Date

Pune, September 15, 2026: Candidates preparing for the Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (MH-SET) 2026 will have to wait longer as Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), the state agency conducting the examination, has rescheduled the test to October 25, 2026.
The 41st Maharashtra State Eligibility Test was earlier scheduled to be conducted on September 27. The decision to postpone the examination followed representations from candidates regarding clashes with other competitive examinations and scheduling concerns.
The revised date has now been reflected on the official MH-SET website maintained by SPPU, which lists October 25, 2026 as the examination date.
Admit Cards to Be Available From October 15
According to the revised schedule, candidates will be able to download their MH-SET 2026 admit cards from October 15 at 10 am.
The admit card will be made available online through the official SET website. Candidates are required to download and print the hall ticket and carry it to the examination centre along with an additional valid photo identity document.
Exam to Be Conducted in Two Papers
The Maharashtra SET examination will continue to follow its two-paper format.
Paper I will consist of 50 compulsory multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 100 marks, with a duration of one hour.
Paper II will have 100 compulsory questions carrying 200 marks, with a duration of two hours. The examination will be conducted in OMR-based mode.
There will be no negative marking in the examination.
Examination Centres Across Maharashtra and Goa
The MH-SET examination is scheduled to be conducted across 18 designated centres in Maharashtra and Goa.
The centres include Pune, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Nashik, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded, Amravati, Nagpur, Goa, Solapur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Ahilya Nagar, Dhule, Ratnagiri, Parbhani and Nandurbar.
Candidates Get Additional Preparation Time
The postponement gives candidates additional time to prepare for the examination. Aspirants can use the extended period to revise the syllabus, practise previous question papers and take mock tests before the revised examination date.
The Maharashtra SET is conducted to determine eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professor in universities and colleges in Maharashtra and Goa. Qualification in the test does not itself guarantee employment, as recruitment remains subject to the rules and requirements of the concerned institutions.
