Lonavala, Pune District: A woman and her young daughter were rescued after falling into a gorge approximately 100 feet deep at Lion’s Point, a popular tourist destination in Lonavala, on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, the incident prompted an emergency response involving Lonavala Rural Police and members of the Shivdurg Rescue Team. The mother and daughter reportedly became trapped among tree branches on the steep slope, helping prevent them from falling further into the gorge.

Rescue personnel and local residents responded to the emergency and helped bring the two to safety. Ropes were used during the rescue operation, according to reports.

Both sustained minor injuries. The woman was taken to a private hospital in Lonavala for medical treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest that a family dispute may have preceded the incident. However, the circumstances leading to the fall are still under investigation, and the police are examining the matter further.

The incident highlights the importance of prompt emergency response and the role of local residents and rescue personnel in preventing a potentially fatal outcome at a popular tourist location.
