Pune | October 16, 2025 — Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has assured farmers affected by heavy rainfall that they will receive government aid before Diwali. The funds are expected to be directly credited into their bank accounts, and Pawar described this as the largest relief package the state has ever announced.

He highlighted that the state has allocated a substantial relief package to support farmers who suffered losses due to the monsoon rains, particularly in the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions. The initiative aims to expedite assistance and ensure that farmers can recover in time for the upcoming cropping season.

Pawar also addressed criticisms from opposition parties, stating that their objections are politically motivated and misleading. He emphasized that the relief measures are focused on providing real support to farmers, not as a tool for electoral gain.

The state government plans to verify crop losses through detailed damage assessment reports. District collectors have been directed to prioritize regions with extensive damage and ensure that compensation reaches farmers promptly.
