The annual Rathotsav at Satara’s Uttar Chidambaram Nataraj Temple will be held from December 29 to January 3 with daily rituals, homas, chariot ceremonies and large public participation.

Satara | 08 December 2025: The annual Rathotsav at the Shri Uttar Chidambaram Nataraj Temple in Satara will be held from Monday, December 29, 2025 to Saturday, January 3, 2026. The festival is being organised with the blessings of Shri Anand Nataraj, Shri Shivakamasundari and the revered Acharyas of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, including Mahaswami Shri Chandrashekharendra Saraswati, Shri Jayendra Saraswati and the present Peethadhipati Shri Shankar Vijayendra Saraswati Swami.

The flag hoisting and main consecration ceremony will take place on December 29 at 5 pm. The next day, December 30, rituals including Punyahavachana, Ganapati Homa and Navagraha Homa will be held from 6 am to 12 pm, followed by the Radha-Krishna Kalyan Utsav in the evening.

On December 31, the temple will host mantra chanting, homa purnahuti and aarti for all deities from 6 am to 12 pm. Similarly, January 1 will feature homa, aarti and prasad distribution in the morning, with the chariot festival and Deepotsav of Shri Mahaganapati scheduled between 3 pm and 6 pm.

The main rath pujan and rath prasthan will be held on Friday, January 2 at 8 am. The ceremony will be performed by Kolhapur Zilla Parishad CEO S. Karthikayan (IAS) and Satara Zilla Parishad CEO Yasini Nagarajan (IAS), along with Assistant Charity Commissioner S. S. Manjrekar and devotees Murali Srinivasan and Sudha Murali from Thane. The chariot procession will begin between 8 and 9 am, travelling across major parts of Satara including Bombay Restaurant Chowk, Powai Naka, Mandir Road, Kamani Haud, Moti Chowk, Rajwada, Sadashiv Peth, Shaniwar Peth, DSP Bungalow and returning to the temple by 6 pm. Mahamangal Aarti and prasad will follow.

The final day, January 3, will feature the Mahaabhishek ceremony conducted by the Radhakrishna Shastri Memorial Trust, along with the Laghurudra wedding of Shivakamasundari and Nataraj, followed by aarti and Mahaprasad.The temple trustees, Rathotsav Seva Samiti members and Managing Trustee Ramesh Shanbhag have urged devotees to participate in large numbers and support the festival, which is organised entirely through public donations.
