Maharashtra BJP state president Ravindra Chavan unveiled a new organisational team, with Chitra Wagh appointed as Mahila Morcha chief, as part of wider structural changes aimed at strengthening party presence
Mumbai | 25 February 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party Maharashtra unit has named Chitra Wagh as the Mahila Morcha President, following the announcement of a new list of office‑bearers by state president Ravindra Chavan on 24 February. The organisational reshuffle comes after the party’s notable performance in recent local body and Mumbai BMC elections, with leadership aiming to reinforce party structure ahead of upcoming electoral battles.

In the expanded team, Wagh will lead the women’s wing, while Sujay Vikhe Patil and Gopichand Padalkar have been appointed as vice‑presidents, reflecting a mix of experienced leaders and emerging faces. The list includes 11 vice‑presidents, with several prominent leaders such as former Union Minister Bharati Pawar, Ramdas Tadas, Sanjay Bhende, and Keshav Upadhye among those entrusted with organisational roles.

In addition to these appointments, key positions such as treasurer and secretaries were also filled to ensure better coordination at the grassroots level. Party leaders emphasised that the new structure takes regional, caste and gender representation into account, and is designed to mobilise supporters for future state and national elections.
Chavan has directed all newly appointed office‑bearers to commence their duties immediately and step up public engagement efforts as part of broader organisational strengthening efforts.
