The official X account of the rapidly trending social media platform “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP) has reportedly been withheld in India, according to founder Abhijeet Dipke. The development comes just days after the platform witnessed explosive growth across social media, particularly among Gen-Z users.

Dipke shared the update through other digital platforms, stating that users in India were unable to access the CJP account on X. While the exact reason behind the withholding action has not been officially disclosed, the move has triggered intense discussion online regarding digital censorship, political satire and freedom of expression on social media platforms.

Over the past week, Cockroach Janta Party gained massive popularity for its satirical political content, meme-driven campaigns and unconventional online branding. The platform’s Instagram account reportedly crossed millions of followers within a short span, drawing attention from political observers, creators and internet users across the country.

The viral rise of CJP also led to controversy after social media users began circulating alleged links between some individuals associated with the platform and members connected to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Founder Abhijeet Dipke had earlier acknowledged working with AAP between 2020 and 2023, though he maintained that CJP was being driven independently as a youth-centric digital movement.

Political analysts believe the sudden popularity of the platform reflects the growing influence of meme culture and short-form political commentary among younger audiences. Others see it as an example of how satire-based digital campaigns are increasingly shaping online political conversations in India.

The withholding of the X account has further amplified public curiosity around the platform, with hashtags related to Cockroach Janta Party continuing to trend across multiple social media platforms. As of now, there has been no official statement from X regarding the specific legal or policy grounds behind the action in India.
