DRDO and France’s DGA have signed a technical agreement in New Delhi to expand joint defence research, covering AI, cybersecurity, aeronautics, quantum tech, sensors, space and underwater systems.

New Delhi | November 21,2025: India and France have taken another major step in their defence partnership with a new Technical Agreement between the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and France’s Directorate General of Armaments (DGA). The agreement was signed at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO, and Lt. Gen. Gael Diaz de Tuesta, National Armaments Director of France.

The agreement is designed to deepen cooperation in defence research and development by combining the technical strengths and scientific capabilities of both countries. It sets up a formal structure for joint research projects, training programmes, testing activities, information sharing, and the organisation of workshops and seminars. Officials said the goal is to build long-term capacity and enhance expertise in defence technologies.

A key part of the agreement includes the exchange of equipment, technical know-how and advanced technologies. The two sides have identified several priority sectors for collaboration, such as aeronautical platforms, unmanned systems, cyber security, artificial intelligence, space technologies, navigation, advanced propulsion, materials engineering, high-end sensors, underwater systems and quantum technologies.

Both India and France expressed confidence that this partnership will accelerate innovation and contribute to national security. Officials also noted that the cooperation fits into the broader strategic partnership between the two nations, strengthening their ability to address emerging global defence challenges.
