Authorities have warned against a fake census 2027 form circulating online, urging citizens not to share personal details on social media links and to use only official government channels

Buldhana | 05 May 2026: A fake form claiming to be related to the upcoming Census 2027 is currently being widely circulated on social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp, prompting authorities to issue a public warning. The administration has clarified that the document is entirely unauthorised and has no connection with any government census process.

According to officials, the circulating image appears to mimic an official census questionnaire and requests detailed personal information from citizens, including household details, property information, and family member data. The form also reportedly uses government-like symbols to create a false impression of authenticity, thereby misleading people into believing it is part of an official exercise.Authorities have expressed concern that cybercriminals may be using this method to collect sensitive personal data with the intent of fraud or identity misuse. Citizens have been strongly advised not to fill out or share any such forms found on social media or unofficial messaging platforms.

Officials have clarified that the actual census process will not rely on random online forms circulated through social media. Instead, the upcoming census will be conducted through a structured and authorised digital and field-based system. As per the official procedure outlined by the administration, citizens will have the option of self-enumeration through the government’s verified portal, where information can be submitted securely. The official website provided for this purpose is https://se.census.gov.in. Additionally, from May 16 to June 14, authorised government enumerators will visit households directly to collect data in person. Citizens are advised to provide information only to these verified officials during the scheduled field survey.

The administration has reiterated that no private link, forwarded message, or social media form should be considered valid for census participation. Officials have urged the public to remain cautious and verify any such communication through official government sources before sharing personal information. The warning comes amid increasing incidents of digital fraud attempts targeting public awareness events and government programmes. Authorities have stated that strict action will be taken against those involved in spreading misleading or fake documents intended to deceive citizens.
