Pune, December 08, 2025 – A shocking incident from Pune has left a young man severely injured after a dispute over borrowed money turned into a violent attack. Police said the victim, Soham Shinde, had earlier given ₹35,000 to his friend to help pay for his mother’s medical treatment. When Soham later asked for the amount to be returned, the issue escalated into a confrontation.

According to investigators, the accused, identified as Sanskar Jadhav, allegedly avoided repaying the money. On December 5, he and three others called Soham to meet them, and during the meeting they attacked him with sharp weapons. Soham suffered several stab wounds and was rushed to hospital, where doctors described his condition as serious.

Baner Police registered a case under sections related to attempted murder and causing grievous hurt. Officers said the assault appears to have been planned, as the group had chosen a location away from crowded areas. CCTV footage from nearby spots, along with witness accounts and phone records, are now part of the investigation. Police have arrested some of the accused, while a search continues for the remaining members of the group.

Residents in the area expressed shock at the violent response to what they described as a personal money matter. Many said that lending money out of goodwill should never lead to such consequences and called for strong punishment to discourage similar crimes. Some community members also pointed out that informal lending between friends often leads to disputes that escalate quickly when there is no written understanding or clear repayment agreement.

Police say they are taking the case seriously and have warned that anyone found helping the suspects will also face legal action. They are urging citizens to report disputes before they turn violent and to approach authorities instead of resorting to personal retaliation. Officers noted that cases involving unpaid personal loans are becoming more common, and that better awareness and mediation could prevent such incidents.

For the victim’s family, the incident has been emotionally devastating. Relatives said Soham offered financial help only because he believed his friend needed urgent medical assistance, and the betrayal has made the attack even more painful. They have appealed to the police to ensure strict legal action and prevent the accused from getting bail.

Medical professionals treating Soham have said that his recovery will take time due to multiple injuries. Police are continuing to collect evidence and may add further charges if conspiracy or advance planning is fully established. The case remains under investigation.
