Heatwave has swept across Maharashtra, with Akola crossing 44°C, Solapur recording 43.4°C, and Pune reaching 42°C, prompting health advisories and heat safety guidelines from authorities.

April 17 | Pune: Maharashtra is currently reeling under an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring across several regions, particularly in Vidarbha and western parts of the state. Akola has recorded temperatures exceeding 44 degrees Celsius, making it one of the hottest locations in the state, while Solapur followed closely with 43.4 degrees Celsius. Pune city also experienced extreme heat, with the mercury rising to 42 degrees Celsius.
The rising temperatures have led to widespread discomfort, with residents struggling to cope with the sweltering conditions. Vidarbha continues to bear the brunt of the heatwave, with several districts recording unusually high temperatures, raising concerns among both citizens and authorities.
In response, the administration has issued health advisories, urging people to take precautions against heat-related illnesses. Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours, and take necessary measures to prevent heatstroke. Medical facilities have also been instructed to remain prepared to handle heat-related emergencies.

Officials have indicated that such extreme weather conditions may persist for the next few days. However, there is also a possibility of unseasonal rainfall in certain parts of the state, which could bring temporary relief from the scorching heat. Weather experts have warned that the combination of high temperatures and sudden weather changes may impact public health and agriculture.
As Maharashtra faces one of the harshest heat spells this season, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are taking steps to ensure public safety through awareness and preparedness measures.
