Hospital Attacks Reported in Iran Conflict; WHO Issues Strong Warning

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised serious concerns over reported attacks on hospitals and medical personnel amid the ongoing conflict in Iran.

Geneva, Switzerland|05 March 2026:Explosions near Motahari Hospital in Tehran caused structural damage to the building, forcing the evacuation of patients and healthcare workers. Two emergency medical centers were also reportedly damaged. According to the WHO chief, attacks that began on Saturday have severely impacted Iran’s healthcare infrastructure, not only in Tehran but also in two other cities.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Tedros emphasized that health workers and facilities are protected under international law and must be safeguarded at all times. He noted that ongoing hostilities are severely affecting patients, medical staff, and access to essential care. Global health authorities are closely monitoring the situation as concerns grow over the humanitarian consequences of continued attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Beyond physical damage, the psychological toll on healthcare workers is growing. Many medical professionals are working extended hours under threat of further attacks, while shortages of essential medicines and equipment are beginning to surface. Aid agencies have raised concerns about supply chain disruptions, especially for life saving drugs and trauma care materials
