India, Slovakia Elevate Bilateral Relations to Comprehensive Partnership During PM Modi’s Visit

India and Slovakia have agreed to elevate their bilateral relationship to the status of a Comprehensive Partnership, marking a major step toward strengthening cooperation in trade, technology, defence, and innovation as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Bratislava | June 15, 2026: India and Slovakia on Monday decided to elevate their bilateral ties to the status of a Comprehensive Partnership, signalling a new phase of strategic cooperation between the two countries across sectors including economy, defence, science, technology and cultural exchange.

The announcement came following high-level discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest and global significance.

The move is expected to deepen diplomatic engagement and unlock fresh opportunities for investment, industrial partnerships and technological cooperation. Officials from both nations discussed strengthening business-to-business connections and encouraging greater participation in emerging sectors such as innovation, clean energy, digital transformation and advanced manufacturing.

Prime Minister Robert Fico highlighted the longstanding friendship between India and Slovakia and stated that the two nations are connected through several common interests.
