Sydney | November 21,2025: India enjoyed a strong day at the Australian Open 2025 as young shuttlers Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty secured their places in the men’s singles quarterfinals with impressive performances.

Ayush Shetty delivered the standout win of the round, defeating world No. 9 Kodai Naraoka in straight games. Shetty kept steady control throughout the match and wrapped it up 21-17, 21-16, marking one of the biggest victories of his career so far.

Lakshya Sen, seeded seventh, also pushed through to the next stage with a hard-fought win over Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen. After claiming the first game 21-17, Sen slipped in the second, but he regained momentum in the decider to finish 21-13.

With both wins, the tournament will now see an all-Indian quarterfinal clash as Sen and Shetty face each other for a spot in the semifinals.

On the other hand, senior Indian players had a tougher outing. HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth were knocked out in earlier rounds, ending their campaign sooner than expected.

The Australian Open is part of the BWF World Tour Super-500 series and serves as an important stop ahead of next season’s major events. India’s hopes now rest on the young duo as they aim to continue their run in Sydney.
