Veteran batter Aditya Tare and India star Shreyas Iyer produced match-winning knocks to guide SOBO Mumbai Falcons to a thrilling three-wicket victory over MSC Maratha Royals in the T20 Mumbai League.
Shreyas Iyer and Aditya Tare delivered a vintage batting display at Wankhede Stadium as SOBO Mumbai Falcons secured their first victory of the T20 Mumbai League 2026 season.
Former Mumbai stalwart Aditya Tare and India batter Shreyas Iyer combined experience and composure to steer SOBO Mumbai Falcons to a hard-fought win against defending champions MSC Maratha Royals in a high-intensity T20 Mumbai League clash at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Chasing a target of 153, the Falcons got off to a flying start with Tare unleashing an aggressive assault at the top of the order. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter smashed 42 runs off just 19 deliveries, setting the tone for the chase alongside Ishan Mulchandani, who contributed a steady 29. The opening partnership laid a strong foundation and pushed the Falcons into a commanding position early in the innings.
Shreyas Iyer, entering as the Impact Player, continued the momentum with a fluent 30 off 24 balls that included elegant boundaries and towering sixes. His innings helped the Falcons race past the 100-run mark within 12 overs and appeared to put the result beyond doubt.

However, the match took a dramatic turn after Iyer’s dismissal as the Royals staged a spirited comeback with quick wickets. The Falcons suddenly found themselves under pressure after losing four wickets in rapid succession. With the required rate climbing, Gautam Waghela held his nerve with an unbeaten 26 to guide the side home with five balls remaining.
Earlier, MSC Maratha Royals posted 152 for nine, powered by Sahil Jadhav’s explosive 52 off 30 deliveries. Akash Parkar and Yash Dicholkar starred with the ball for the Falcons, picking up three wickets each to restrict the defending champions.
The victory marked SOBO Mumbai Falcons’ first win of the tournament and reignited memories of Mumbai cricket’s golden era as two experienced campaigners lit up Wankhede with a commanding performance.
