The Maharashtra government has extended the e-KYC deadline for Ladki Bahin Yojana beneficiaries to April 30, 2026, offering relief to lakhs of women yet to complete the mandatory verification process.

Pune | April 1, 2026: In a significant relief for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, the Maharashtra government has extended the deadline for completing the mandatory e-KYC process to April 30, 2026. The deadline, which was earlier set for March 31, has been pushed forward to ensure that no eligible woman is deprived of financial assistance due to technical or procedural delays.

The decision was announced by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare following multiple representations from beneficiaries facing difficulties in completing Aadhaar and bank-related verification. The extension is being seen as a final opportunity for eligible women to regularise their details and continue receiving benefits under the scheme.

The Ladki Bahin Yojana, launched in 2024, provides monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 to eligible women across Maharashtra. However, completion of the e-KYC process is mandatory to ensure that the benefits reach only genuine recipients and to eliminate duplication or ineligible entries from the system.

Officials noted that a large number of beneficiaries had not completed the verification process due to issues such as Aadhaar linking errors, bank account mismatches, and technical glitches. As a result, nearly 68 lakh accounts have already been flagged or closed after failing to complete e-KYC, significantly reducing the total number of active beneficiaries.

The government has clarified that those who fail to complete the process by April 30 may lose eligibility for future payments under the scheme. Authorities have therefore urged beneficiaries to complete the process at the earliest through official portals, mobile applications, or Common Service Centres (CSCs).

The extension also comes against the backdrop of unseasonal rains and logistical challenges that disrupted the verification process in several districts. Additionally, repeated deadline extensions in the past indicate ongoing implementation challenges, particularly in rural areas where digital access remains limited.

To facilitate smoother verification, the government has strengthened support systems, including assistance from anganwadi workers and digital platforms, ensuring that beneficiaries can complete the process with minimal difficulty. The move is aimed at improving transparency and accountability while safeguarding the scheme from misuse.

Despite the relief, concerns remain among some beneficiaries regarding delayed payments and procedural complexities. However, officials have assured that genuine beneficiaries who complete the e-KYC process will continue to receive financial assistance without interruption.

The extension is expected to benefit lakhs of women across the state, providing them with a final window to secure continued support under one of Maharashtra’s key welfare schemes.
