The film is based on the life and career of renowned public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, who played a pivotal role in several high-profile criminal cases, including the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The teaser places special focus on the legal proceedings that followed the attacks, highlighting the challenges faced during the historic trial.

While Rajkummar Rao leads the film in the role of Ujjwal Nikam, it is Lalit Prabhakar’s portrayal of Kasab that has become a major talking point. The actor appears almost unrecognizable in the teaser, with his appearance and body language carefully crafted to resemble the convicted terrorist. Viewers have praised the attention to detail, with many expressing surprise at the transformation.

Directed by filmmaker Avinash Arun and backed by Maddock Films, Prahaar aims to explore the legal and investigative aspects of the 26/11 case through the lens of Nikam’s professional journey. The film also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher in important roles.

The makers have announced that the film will arrive in theatres on August 7, 2026. With its focus on one of India’s most defining terror-related court cases and a cast led by Rajkummar Rao, the project is expected to attract significant attention in the months ahead. The teaser has already set the stage for what could be one of the year’s most talked-about courtroom dramas.
