Maharashtra Achieves Record Milestone: 5 Lakh PM Awas Homes to be Inaugurated in Satara Today

In a massive boost to rural housing, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate 5 lakh completed houses and distribute ₹10,000 crore in funds at a grand ceremony in Satara.

Satara | May 15, 2026: The historic Sainik School ground in Satara is set to host a landmark event today as the Maharashtra state government celebrates a record-breaking achievement under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Out of the 30 lakh houses sanctioned for the state by the central government, 5 lakh homes have been successfully completed and are ready for handover. The ceremony will also mark the direct distribution of ₹10,000 crore in funds to further the scheme’s reach across the state.

State Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore, who personally inspected the venue, highlighted that Maharashtra has secured the highest target of 29 lakh houses in a single year a feat unmatched by any other state. Under Minister Gore’s leadership, the Rural Development Department achieved a staggering milestone by approving 28 lakh houses within a 45-day window and initiating the distribution of the first installments. Since April 1, 2025, exactly 5,08,000 houses have been constructed, all of which will be virtually inaugurated today.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will lead the proceedings. Given the current heatwave, Minister Gore has directed officials to ensure ample drinking water, shaded pavilions, and medical facilities for the thousands of beneficiaries and citizens expected to attend.

This event underscores Maharashtra’s aggressive push toward “Housing for All,” with the ₹10,000 crore infusion expected to accelerate the construction of the remaining sanctioned units. The coordination between the state and center has positioned Maharashtra as the national frontrunner in rural housing implementation.
