Major Administrative Shake-up in Pune Municipal Corporation as 21 Top Officials Reassigned

A sweeping administrative shake-up has legally reordered the internal governance structure of Pune’s civic body today, reallocating key departmental portfolios to streamline urban infrastructure delivery, maximize operational accountability, and eliminate municipal bottlenecks.

PUNE | May 21, 2026: The executive corridors of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) underwent a massive organizational realignment following a series of official directives approved by Additional Municipal Commissioner Prajit Nair and Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram. Issued in accordance with mandates from the State Urban Development Department and the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal, the systemic intervention alters the exact administrative jurisdiction of twenty-one senior bureaucrats and executive engineers with immediate effect.

The comprehensive reshuffle marks the high-profile integration of Dr. Santosh Tengle into the municipal framework, who takes over the Cultural Center and Sports divisions following an official promotion from the Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation. Concurrently, Assistant Commissioner Prasad Katkar assumes localized control of the high-stakes Election and Vigilance wings. To streamline civic oversight, Deputy Commissioner Madhav Jagtap has been handed an expansive dual mandate; while maintaining his authority over Zone 5, he absorbs the critical portfolios of Environment, Sky Signs, and Municipal Markets. Meanwhile, Kishori Shinde has been relieved of her environmental duties to anchor the core divisions of General Administration and Technical Services.

This administrative redirection extends directly into the civil engineering sectors, where prolonged project delays have prompted decisive reassignments. Chief Engineer (Civil) Jagdish Khanore has officially vacated his station at the Sewage, Maintenance, and Repair branch to assume direct leadership of the prestigious ‘Param Project.’ Simultaneously, Vedprakash Jadhav takes charge of the critical Water Supply Department, and Executive Engineer Vipin Shinde steps up as the head of the Building Construction wing.

Further infrastructure adjustments place Rohidas Gavane at the helm of the Road Department, while Dineshkumar Girolla absorbs an additional load as the departmental chief for Drainage Maintenance and Repair. All designated officers have been ordered to file formal joinder notes immediately to prevent operational gaps.
