March 13 | New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a strong warning against individuals and groups allegedly spreading rumours about a shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the country, stating that strict action will be taken against hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities. Speaking at the NXT Summit in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said attempts were being made to deliberately create panic and confusion among citizens regarding the availability of cooking gas. Modi emphasised that the government remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies for citizens despite global uncertainties triggered by the ongoing tensions in West Asia. He said India’s energy security remains a top priority and authorities are working continuously to ensure stable availability of petrol, diesel and cooking gas across the country. Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, the Centre has formed a high-level monitoring committee under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The committee also includes External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Sources said the committee will closely track the evolving geopolitical developments and their possible impact on India’s fuel supply chain. The panel is tasked with ensuring that the country does not face shortages of petroleum products or domestic cooking gas. Prime Minister Modi also chaired a meeting of the committee at his residence where senior ministers reviewed the current situation in detail. Officials indicated that the government has shifted into “action mode” to prevent disruptions and maintain stable supply of essential energy resources across the country
